As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • Human subjects

    I (we) certify that this study involving human subjects is in accordance with the Helsinky declaration of 1975 as revised in 2000 and that it has been approved by the relevant institutional Ethical Committee.

    Animals

    I (we) certify that this study involving animals followed the institutional and national guide for the care and use of laboratory animals.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author’s guidelines


The Journal of Baghdad College of Dentistry is a research periodical, which publishes original clinical and basic studies in addition to review articles covering all specialities of dentistry and related sciences.


The journal of Baghdad College of dentistry is a self-financed publication and its editorial board welcomes unconditional financial assistance from donors.


            Contributors from outside of Iraq will be charged 75$ per article. This should be Reference fees of 30000 I.D. will be charged in advance upon submission of each article. Should the article is rejected, the fees is not refundable.


Notes for guidance in the preparation of manuscripts


1-      The Journal publish original and valuable research in the basic and clinical dental sciences. Pages are published on the understanding that they have not been and, with exception of author's abstract, will not be published elsewhere.


2-      Manuscripts should be written in English and typed on one side of the white paper (A4) in double – line spacing with a wide margin. Four copies, one of which must be original of the typescript and illustration should be addressed to:

3-      Articles are critically re-examined by referees. The author(s) may comment on the referee's remarks. Should the article be rejected, the author(s) will be notified in due to the reasons for its rejection.


4-      Results of research work, which do not warrant presentation as a full paper, may be submitted for consideration as Notes. Notes are not intended for the publication of interim result. Review articles may be published if they have innovative features.


5-      The title should be short and precise. English title should be written in capital letters. The title must be followed by author(s) name(s) and affiliation, abstract, introduction, material and methods, results and discussion, acknowledgment, if any and references cited.


6-      Abstracts should be both in English and Arabic, and should be between 250-300 words. English article should have Arabic Abstract at the end of the article.


7-      Only papers closely related to the author's work should be referred to and exhaustive reference lists should be avoided. The alphabetical arrangement of reference should be as in recent papers in the journal of Baghdad College of dentistry, namely surnames(s) and initial of author(s), year publication, title, volume, number opening and closing pages. In the case of book(s), the title should be followed by the publisher and place of publication, and pages.


8-      On the text, reference should be made to the number of the references, where necessary, name(s) may be followed by number of the reference.


9-      Tables and figures used in the manuscript should be self explanatory.


10-  Photographs intended for half-ton reproduction should on glossy paper. They will be accepted only if found necessary by the editors. Colors plants are unlikely to be accepted unless authors bear the cost.


11-  The metric of measurement should be used. (S.I.Units).
